Hidamari Sketch Vol. 1-4

The only thing I read in Summer 2010 that I finished. Quite good but not mind-blowing, though I like how the four girls generally balance each other out and nobody steals the spotlight (Okay, maybe Yoshinoya does, but she’s not one of the four girls). Not too fond of the new girls as they seem quite boring and too deliberately moé (Nazuna), but their inclusion made me appreciate the original four a little more for their relative unforcedness. Difficult to pick a favourite character since nobody really stands out, but I do know that I prefer Sae less than the others (even if it’s probably due to an unfair bias against her appearance prior to reading. Hanners’ avatar, why must you look so unappealing!). Overall an enjoyable series, though because it didn’t make much of an impact it is a difficult series to write about or describe. A lot of the events in it makes for great references, though, which means the next time I see stew I’ll may try to name everything in it.
Oh yes, also watched the first episode of Hoshimittsu, and it stuck to the manga so closely that I knew all the jokes before the punchline arrived, which means one less series to watch in my lifetime!
